Hila Cholsky, a resident of the north and a print teacher, has developed a technique that combines etching in a copper or iron plate, an aquatint, drawing and painting. The themes of her works relate to the complex relationship of the second generation to Holocaust survivors and her love for the Land of Israel and its history.
The engraving works have delicate touches of antique maps, burgundy cuts, acrylic paints and antique photographs, which convey the feeling of passing time. Each engraving is an examiner of the artist ( Artist's Proof ) made as a monotype (unique print) and there is no other numbered series behind it.
In the oil paintings of olive trees, the color green in all its shades brings to the space in which we are, in addition to calm, also balance and serenity. The paintings give us a sense of personal growth, renewal, mental creativity, and the expectation of self-improvement.
This optimistic spirit seeps into all the works and creates a deep and intriguing texture of the present and the past.
