"When I paint or sculpt, I forget what is happening around me. I sink into myself, learning to express my feelings through the work. I got a lot of inspiration from my late husband who started painting when he retired. I too was captivated by the magic of painting when I retired.
In my professional life as a midwife, mother and wife, I have tried to be attentive to those close to me and others. And since I started in sculpture and painting, I try to listen to myself as well, and express it in my works. The beautiful nature around me, emerging and changing suits, with the seasons, hours of the day and night, makes me want to perpetuate the sights through the prism of my eyes. The special "something" that cannot always be defined in words.
Ruthi Sheft has diverse sources of influence and inspiration: the Jewish sculptor and architect Hundertwasser is considered a great Austrian artist, he is a source of inspiration for me thanks to the wonderful combinations, the repeated lines with the clear boundaries and the colorful and unique freedom. I was fascinated by his works.
The American painter Georgia O'Keefe painted enlarged flowers and landscapes, which look like under a magnifying glass. Through her, she expressed a strong and courageous femininity, from which I drew inspiration, thanks to the quiet intensity of the paintings and the unique colors. "
Recent works express her sympathy with the difficulties and struggles that her late parents went through during their departure from their Czech homeland and acclimatization in the country.
The sculptural works on display also express her longing for the world of midwifery that has filled her heart and life for 37 years.
In the exhibition, Ruthi Sheft presents a rich and interesting variety of works: paintings of colorful landscapes and figures, full of expression and atmosphere, in a free and personal style. Her works are characterized by colorful colors and lyrical style, in an open composition, containing elements of fire, water, air and earth. These are the subjects of her paintings in the richness of details and colors.
