"Riot Time" Appraiser Ren

The tension between the disturbances experienced by the Jewish people in the past and the deceptive reality following the global plague led the artist Shamai Ran to create a series of 13 woodcuts depicting the horrors of the pogroms the Jewish people went through.
Shamai's attraction to the history of the people of Israel and the Land of Israel and the flourishing phenomenon of mystical and messianic movements in the land that he considers most prominent in the Corona period, created a need for him to delve into his subject and contexts of Jewish history and deal with the difficult details
At the basis of the exhibition are Shamai Ran's technical abilities to describe the inconceivable cruelty that the Jews went through during the riots. The letters which described the horrors of the pogroms that the artist read quite a bit were the inspiration for his works on display.

Shamai Ran is an autodidact who paints and creates from a young age and although he has not formally studied art he has been involved in it for many years. The choice of the woodcut technique is not accidental and it combines his drawing abilities with his favorite handiwork and technical skill and gives the appraiser Ren the opportunity to express his thoughts through the work.
