"Zoom in, zoom out with a brush", a new exhibition in Raanana The new solo exhibition by Boris Leifer will present two series by the hyper-realistic painter from the USSR, created in the last two years : a series of portraits or the complete figure of his wife Nina, and a still life series of kinds of foods, Fruits, vegetables and flowers .

The hyper-real world denies the contrast between the real and the false, just as Boris Leifer's paintings, which will be displayed in the exhibition "Zoom In," "Zoom Out" in a brush, which will open in Raanana in November, blur the line between real and virtual reality. As a result, the movement of his brush on the format of his paintings simulates the movement of a camera's zoom lens, approaching or moving away from the figure or object (objects of the painting), meaning: "zoom in", "zoom out" - from macro to micro and vice versa, and in the same breath From the whole to the fragment and back.
During the years 2020-2019, Boris Leifer worked on two new series of his paintings: in one series he focused on depicting the still life of fruits, vegetables, kinds of foods and flowers and on the other on depicting his wife Nina - her face, her complete figure or details of her.
According to curator Orna Fichman: "Leifer's ability to see Nina, the object of his paintings, confirms a kind of penetrating vision that transcends boundaries and time. Leifer mixes his emotional and experiential world when he paints it. Her face seemed to flow with him and look up to him. "A visual life that tells of her change. A time travel when all time is immortalized and all the time. Leifer made sure not to beautify his modeling in his paintings.
On the series of paintings in which he painted his wife Nina: "Leifer chooses to paint Nina, the closest personal model to him. Or a fold of skin on her body while accurately tracing the smallest details.In addition, Leifer creates drama in descriptions by games of light and shadow (Chiaroscuro). "Baroque painting in Italy. Like Caravaggio, Leifer also addresses the senses, the emotions, the imagination, while striving to achieve astonishing achievements that will enchant and captivate the viewers' hearts in his works."
On the inanimate series: "In his second series of paintings in the exhibition are depicted fruits, vegetables, types of foods that the artist arranged on one surface or another as well as flower descriptions - in all of these Leifer makes considerable use of this style. The cases are also drawn by a photograph. Being a talented, sharp and sharp-eyed painter, he creates a more accurate painting than a photograph. A painting that has more animals, which is not subject to the limitations of depth, field or focus. For photography and insert color and lighting details, which the camera lens absorbs for optical reasons.This type of move is intended for the term hyper-realism (over-realism), which defines the ability and desire of the photographic painter to be as accurate as possible.
Fruits, vegetables, foods and flowers are a favorite and favorite subject for hyper-realistic painters as well as for Leifer, because of the challenge posed by the special textures as well as their rich color compounds. Meeting this challenge has resulted in a series of almost "edible" paintings that stimulate all the senses, with the flower descriptions especially as they would invite us, the viewers, to approach the format, feel and feel their delicate petals and inhale their fragrance.
Boris Leifer was born in Ukraine in 1946, from 1969 to 1975 he studied at the Best Academy of Arts. Petersburg, with an affinity for European-traditional-realistic painting. He also worked as a set painter in the Russian theater. Studying at the Academy of Art together with the design for the theater explain his tendency as an artist to create "staged" compositions in his works.
