Your own studio, the United States Embassy in Israel, and the Beit Hagefen Gallery in Haifa are pleased to announce the opening of the exhibition 'Reality in Aspemia', curated by Natalie Peslav Stern, which summarizes the Women's Leadership Program in Culture. The exhibition will open on August 27 at: 20:00 at the "Your Own Studio" gallery in Jerusalem.

The Women in Cultural Leadership Program operated between 2018-2019 in Haifa, Lod and Jerusalem, while striving to bring professionalism of artists from religious backgrounds in the field of visual arts, and their growth as influential and leading leaders in the field of culture in the various communities. The program brought together 26 Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Druze religious artists for a series of monthly meetings. The sessions dealt with the development of the artistic practice, and the leadership and entrepreneurial skills of the participants. In 2019, the artists exhibited in Lod and Beit Hagefen in Haifa.

The exhibition 'Reality in Aspemia' will feature 10 of the participating artists. The works touch on various aspects of the struggles they share as women coming from traditional societies: a call for religious and sectarian equality, head covering and external-internal visibility, a protest against violence against women and raising questions about female representations. The works raise questions about the various forces of society that are exercised towards women, and especially towards women in traditional societies, and present them with a brave and refined expression. At the opening of the exhibition, the catalog that accompanies the project will be launched and tells about the special process the artists went through in the 'Women in Culture Leadership' program, including some who decided to take off their headscarves and become pregnant as a single mother.
The exhibition - 'Reality in Aspemia' is displayed in the new space of " Your Own Studio " in the historic home of the painter Pinchas Litvinovsky. Serves as the first center of its kind for multicultural women's art in Israel.

Project? Women's Leadership in Culture began to take shape several years ago by Tzipi Mizrahi, founder of your own studio and Yaela Hazot, former head of the arts council at the British Council, former curator of Beit Hagefen Gallery, researcher and lecturer in cultural management.   The prestigious U.S. Embassy for Social Leaders. The project was carried out thanks to the funding of the US Embassy Alumni Fund and the generous donation and partnership of the Lod Municipality, the Lottery Council for Culture and the Arts, MATI Jerusalem, the Jerusalem Fund, the Natan Fund, the Bereishit Prize Fund and community investors.
