Tamar Feingold
Festive opening: Friday, 1.2.2019 at 12:00
Orly Dvir Gallery, 5 Rabanu Hananel St., Tel Aviv
Curator: Orly Dvir
Shaul Tchernichovsky wrote:
" Man is nothing but a small land ,
Man is but a pattern of his homeland ,
Only what the ear has absorbed is still fresh ,
Only what his eye had suffered before he could see ,
All he met on the paths of a child dew
Undecided, failed on every block of earth ,
While in the secret of his soul and without know-how
An altar, which he would burn on a daily basis
The Queen of Heaven, the Star and the Zodiac . "

This is also the work of the artist Tamar Fingold, who came from cold Lithuania, which expresses her own personal incarnation and embodies a rich color and lyrical richness, while on the other hand works with an "archival" touch against pieces of photographs taken from the family album.

Indeed, the artist's complex personal story is bound up with thick ties to the territorial integrity and intertwined with her history, but as a phoenix, the artist does not allow grief to envelop her, and this spectacular burst of artistic work attests more than anything else to her love of life and love of the family and of man as a human being.
With great talent and a wide range of techniques, Tamar enlivens the still canvas, builds an assemblage arsenal of characters, each of which has its own story. Feingold is not satisfied with the next painting to broadcast visual tunes. But it deviates from the "beautiful" and the decorative, and falls into an expressiveness that deals with the pain of the lonely man, his grief, his anger, helplessness, grief, bereavement, loss, but at the same time her work contains love and relationships, dreams and daring, Of wisdom and self-humor.
As a faithful artist Tamar herself, she does not follow the line and looks for ways to express and create in an innovative manner the subject that constantly preoccupies her: The generation that is now "children, fine" (Hanna Yablonka)
The artist sees in her art the desire to express the complexity and the difficulties that exist in our world and in our lives.
" Observe and perpetuate" can be her personal slogan in her travels in the documents she found where she finds an outlet to "create" the axis within her for her cinematic talents and her ability to discern the flowing life expressed in her unique paintings.
Tamar's work in the current exhibition is divided into two parts:
Collages that combine personal family stories with yellowing pictures and the artist's personal interpretation, sometimes on a yellowing newspaper, while on the other hand are abstract paintings of goat fire, a strong composition of layers while searching and building.
The forms are random, but at the same time universal and easy to connect to. Each painting faces different faces until it reaches its final form in optimal composition and harmony.
Feingold is influenced by abstract painting, her personal world, photography, nature and past and present life.
She says:
"I found faded pictures, postcards and letters in Yiddish shouting:" Go! Remember! "I found a diary of my father's youth, written in fluent Hebrew that describes the life in Vilna of a 16-year-old boy from the Hebrew gymnasiya Tarbut, a member of Hashomer Hatzair dreaming of immigrating to Eretz Israel.
Colors vary from work to creation. Create different elements and images that anyone can find. The oil paint stains change. Sometimes they are topographical spots, sometimes crooked, with soft or hard strokes of brush and large fabrics. Sometimes with an engraving technique, brush strokes scratch the fabric and reveal its surface.
Tamar does not make it easy for her viewers and exposes him to the visual milon and to the realistic, sometimes pessimist worldview: authentic artistic honesty builds her works, is faithful to her feelings and creates a direct impulsive way that emanates from her emotional worlds.
She creates because it is her way to free herself from distress. This is her way of expressing anxieties. Touching fear. Her way of asking questions, going on trips, telling real or fictional stories. In its words:
"Living in peace with myself and with my environment is my way of experiencing the moment, here and now"
