New exhibition: Eclectic
Nolly Omer presents works in her home yard
December 14-30

The actress, creator and multi-disciplinary artist Nuli Omer launches the exhibition Eclectic , where her private home in the heart of Tel Aviv serves as the exhibition space, in which works of art from various periods of her life - past and present. The existence of the exhibition in the space of her private home emphasizes the symbiosis in which the artist's art is assimilated into her daily life on the one hand, and naturally provides more intimate exposure to the creator's world and to the overall context.

Through the works - paintings on canvas, painted plates, objects (Asamblage), and embroidery - moving on the axis of many years, the artist seeks to bind different messages, shared by all is a discussion willingly and the need for freedom .

Freedom (or vice versa: the cables, the barriers) hangs in works that criticize religion, the destructive interrelationships of religion and faith, trafficking in women, trafficking in animals, abuse of animals, disloyalty to the regime, wealth and government. Omar comes to criticism of destructive power centers, but also to daily occurrences that erode our freedom.
.
The works Aklktifos packed with detail and color, capture immediate attention. Omer seeks to convey unpleasant messages and even difficult content through traffic, congestion and color (and glittering glass and plastic stones, the golden color intertwined with many of her works). Its purpose is to connect difficulty to desire, and to shape the difficulty in a way that is tolerable, perhaps even pleasant, to observe and observe. As in her life as an actress and entertainer, Omar chooses to translate her criticism into humor, and this is evident in the works. In addition, colorfulness aims to praise life, and break the boundaries of freedom against the barriers we face - both internal and external.

A powerful image relating to freedom, which appears in many works, is the birds, Omar's "hammer" from childhood, whose wings reveal the perfect freedom. On the other side of freedom, in many works, cages are integrated - bird cages in asambalges and heavy bars in the painted works.

The many assemblage works in the exhibition are made of ready-made materials, combined with parts brought from the street: frames, sieves, whistles, dolls, feathers, earrings, hangers. All these create a rich visual load, sometimes even in a baroque style, with gold and sparkling stones.

Among the works presented in the exhibition are: "Top Hat Whore" - a gilt, open, luxurious installation, magnificent at first sight, with bleak question marks floating in a second glance at the sight of uninhibited birds combined with work; "The oligarch's wife" - a bird installation in a double cage of gold that chuckles at the applause of the "people," the audience at the exhibition; "Success" - an installation of an aggressive figure in her own eyes, with blind stars in her eyes and a silver bill that turns into a biodegradable cigarette in her mouth or the bread of the law that is eaten; "Look at me" - a painting on the canvas of a golden monkey in a cage, with a human look of deep sadness that is hard to ignore; "Hugh Hefner's Jewel" - figures of women hanging randomly on braids and thin threads, and more.

The choice of exhibition space is not accidental. The house is located in the heart of a bustling city, but it is located on a side street, as if cut off from the hustle and bustle of the outside, immersed in green vegetation surrounding the windows and experienced as a forest ring or forest, even with a wild tree that bursts out from the balcony. And when you get to them, the exhibition is eclectic and corresponds to the artist's home, which is decorated in a karate and wild style together, colorful and crowded, seemingly happy, but ... "Not all glittering gold ."

And other accompanying experience - because of the assimilation between the artist's life and art, and because of the way the exhibition was presented, it is sometimes difficult for the viewer to understand what "belongs" to the exhibition and what is part of the design of the house. Thus, the viewer is required to discover for himself the answer, "What belongs to what?" Or perhaps to understand that everything, in fact ... is one great artistic, mixed and eclectic celebration?
