Brush on the Table - Anat Jasis / W TOWER GALLERYהצילומים באדיבות W TOWER GALLERY 01/11/2018 to - 29/12/2018
Curator: Lori Pashnitsa
Anat Hasis was born in Argentina. In 1978 immigrated to Israel and for years was a member of Kibbutz Gazit. Today she lives in the Western Galilee. Anat graduated from the Technion in Architecture and Town Planning and has been in the field for over 30 years. In 2010, as part of her studies at the After - Barr Arts Center in Ma'alot and under the direction of the artist Hanna Nir Kamgashani, Anat began to paint in abstract style.
In 2014 her husband died of a serious illness and the abstract painting became a kind of "dripping" unstoppable emotions. Thus she manages to express the pain and loss that she undergoes. At the same time, one can also see the optimism that emerges from the crisis and the love of life that emerges from the soft colors and spreads on the canvas gently. Anat realizes the world and believes that death is part of life, that one must see and recognize it - as a stage in creating life, not just at the end. And so, with renewed energy and creative Dror, she strides toward the future with a smile on her lips and the color in her hands.
The artist Anat Hassis uses acrylic paint and industrial paint on canvas, using combined techniques including dipping yarns and fabrics, spilling and dripping free paint. It creates a visual experience that perpetuates its own actions. The flow of emotion and her intuition and her subconscious. The general idea is that there is no justification, no text - but there is an experience!
This style is characterized by a technique called action painting. In English, " action painting " - in which color meets the surface of the painting by dripping or splashing. This technique emphasizes and intensifies the physical dimension of the work of painting itself and is identified with well-known artists who belonged to a stream in a school that painted abstract abstractionism. The "New York School" was the name of a group of painters who operated in the United States in the 1940s and 1950s of the 20th century in the US Among its artists were Blau Jackson Pollock, Willem de Koenig, Franz Klein and others.
To date, Anat Hasis has participated in two exhibitions: In 2014 a single exhibition in the municipality of Maalot. Curator: Noga Migdal. In 2017 a group exhibition at the Maalot Arts Center - "360 degrees" marking the 60th anniversary of the city. Curator Rachel Getz Salomon.
This is the first solo exhibition in the center of the country and she is very excited. She wishes to reach exposure and recognition as an artist is inviting the viewer to discover mysteries or events that can not be explained, such as a mystery or secret hidden between and within paintings and works. Perhaps he could decipher messages from a colorful and impressive collection.
The musician Yoav Chasis, the artist's son, dedicated his poem to her: "A Brush on the Table". The clip shows the techniques she uses for her work, and especially the spirit that drives her to shed paint on the canvas.
"Summer and the brush on the table I see the roads open again The storm had finally gone, after all And you can wipe away your tears "
Lyrics and Music: Yoav Chasis
