Holding On / Zaritsky Artists Houseטלפון - 03-5246685 location - Zaritsky Artists House This exhibition presents another chapter in Tamar Sheaffer?s oeuvre which deals with the urban landscape as a reflection of the contemporary human experience. The landscapes in her works do not describe a real place. They unfold a ?mental environment? that reflects in its structure and architecture the chaotic, networking, technological, hybrid and image-flooded space we are living in. The exhibition includes three central works: The installation ?Holding On? combines drawing and three dimensional elements. It brings about a number of fragmented narratives that intertwine, echo and disrupt one another, while the spectator's gaze wanders between sketches of edifices, roads, nature and disaster areas and back again; The video ?Acrobatics? presents a machine that is a crossbreeding between organic and mechanic elements; and the sculpture ?Something Connected to the Dragon?s Tail? ties a broken spatial line with a body which is a bio-mechanic crossbreeding. The choice to relate to the human experience through a manmade landscape and the ?natural? is based on a long tradition in art and reflects the reciprocal and complex relations between man and place. The works are characterized by corporeality and sensuality that are not a part of the technological and virtual world. They reflect the longing for a substantial sensual experience in this hybrid world, and point, in this multiple-object reality, to the existence of the subject.
