Creation Looking for a Home / Arza MotzaAn exhibition at "Beit Arza" "Creation Looking for a Home", an exhibition to be held in "The White House", the mythological convalescence home to be restored in Motza Ilit The exhibition will open this Friday, 24th October at 12.00. "Creation Looking for a Home" is an exhibit of multi-disciplinary works by Hila Laiser Beja which include charcoal drawings on paper, the structuring of building rods, sculpture and video art. The exhibition is being held by the Association of Artists and Art Lovers in Mevasseret Zion in conjunction with "Manofim" (http://goo.gl/dhKMOk) the coordinator of special events and exhibitions in Jerusalem galleries during the week starting 23th October. The Mevasseret Artists House is the only gallery outside of Jerusalem which has been included in the prestigious Manofim calendar for many years. The artist, Hila Laiser Beja and the exhibition's curator, Dr. Lihi Habas are residents of Mevasseret Zion. Dr Habas is an archaeologist and art historian and teaches at both the Hebrew University and Shenkar College. She has been a curator at The Israel Museum and of numerous exhibitions. Hila Laiser Beja holds a degree from the Department of Art, Creation and Art Education at Haifa University and she is now completing a post-graduate degree at Tel Aviv University. Hila has exhibited in personal and group exhibitions and her work is found in collections in Israel, Europe and the United States. The CEO of "Azorim", Dror Nagal: "Azorim has taken upon itself to assist the Mevasseret artists' association to hold this event at "Arza Motza" in the building marked for restoration thus illustrating the cultural environment intended for the neighborhood being built on the site. "Creation Looking for a Home" will open on Friday, 24th October at 12.00 and the public is invited to also visit on Sunday-Thursday between 17.00-19.00. On Friday, 30th October at 14.00 a gallery talk will be held after which the exhibition will close. The house in Hila Laiser Beja's art is a recurring motive; it recalls a children's drawing, but the imagery is deceiving and unsettling. A single and abandoned home, a chaotic array of a cluster of houses, crumbling foundations and rusted facades give witness to neglect, destruction and cessation and raise the questions: What have we lost? Will we be able to return home? Is rehabilitation a possibility? The house is an allegory of the dream and its rupture, a kind of warning sign of the loss of cultural and creative values. The name of the exhibition "Creation Looking for a Home" reflects Hila's work but it is also directly signifies the restoration of the historical convalescent home of Arza in Motza Ilit. A uniqueness of this exhibition is its location in Beth Arza which was constructed in 1923 and is known for its extraordinary and impressive architecture. "For many years, this impressive building symbolized pampering, relaxation and vacation. Its neo-classic style was designed by the architect Joseph Berlin. The center of the building is semicircular and comprises a portico with stylized columns on each of its two stories, a fa?ade justifying its nickname "The White House" due to the similarity to the latter in Washington DC. Benjamin Zeev Herzl visited Arza in 1898 and planted a cedar tree on the site initiating a long tradition according to which the presidents of the State of Israel plant trees in a special plot within the compound. Eli Lalush, the Jerusalem manager of Azorim, says that the planned restoration of Beth Arza will comprise several halls, one of which will house the historical archive of Moza Ilit and its mythological convalescent home. Other spaces will serve as a library and for dancing and sport activity of the residents. There will also be a gallery, a caf? and a garden for the benefit of the residents and their guests. "The White House's" restoration is being carried out by Azorim in cooperation with representatives from the Mate Yehuda regional council and its community, Motza Ilit. location - Arza Motza רח' שבע אחיות, מוצא, מתחם בנייה של אזורים
