CHANGE / The Center for Contemporary Art


Michal Helfman?s gesamtkunstwerk conceived especially for the CCA is a complex three-part installation focused on the individual as historically subject to movement within socio-geographic space. That space is shaped by often centrifugal forces that create centers of power, which radiate out and homogenize culture, but simultaneously attract people to them as the crisscrossing patterns of migration throughout history demonstrate. Like migrants, visitors to CHANGE navigate the installation as agents in the ebb and flow of empires, as both witnesses and instigators of a coming collapse.
