Lital Lev Cohen // Distillation Unknown / Hezi Cohen Galleryטלפון - 972-03-6398788 location - Hezi Cohen Gallery Lital Lev Cohen?s exhibition of new paintings consists of large-scale oil on canvas pieces and smaller oil on linens. The large paintings present larger-than life, monumental objects that can be viewed as vessels which contain purification or distillation devices within them. \r\n\r\nThe scale of the images creates a relationship between the objects and the human body. These objects mimic the human machine: they are bodies that embellish and stylize themselves, dressing themselves in aesthetic combinations, whilst consciously or unconsciously struggling to cleanse themselves from the poisons, toxins and psychic ?shit? they accumulate.\r\n\r\nThe ?Vases? are hybrid distillation devices that stylistically hint at the ancient, the current and imagined visions of the future. On a personal level, the objects are mental vessels, visual mantras and like talisman, they can be used as motivational tools in a self-purification process. \r\n\r\nThe suspension of the objects in a painted space brings the images back to the realm of ideas and imagination. They almost convince the viewer that their mechanism works, yet, at the same time, they represent a na?ve , ?do it yourself? approach to technology.
